Open Community Camp takes place on a camping ground and house in the village of Oegstgeest, near Leiden in the Netherlands.

How to get there?
The scouting club is 3,3 km from central train station of Leiden.

  • 8 km by bicycle to dutch sand beaches (for example beach of Noordwijk at 11 km)
  • 20 km to The Hague (Leiden-The Hague CS takes 20 minutes by train)
  • 40 km to Amsterdam (Leiden-Amsterdam CS takes 40 minutes by train)

From Leiden Central Station by bus
There are 4 to 6 busses per hour.
The first bus is around 6 o'clock, last bus just past midnight.
-> bus 28 to Oegstgeest
-> bus 57 to Nieuw Vennep (15 minutes walk)
-> get off at the busstop on the Abtspoelweg

by bicycle
From Leiden to the OCC-location at the Abtspoelweg by bicycle.
Using a bicycle as transportation mean can be very convenient. It is less than 4 km (2 miles) to the location of OCC. It takes about 20 minutes for the casual cyclist.
Bicycles can be rented at any train station. Note that Leiden main train station, has two bicycle rentals: one at the front and one at the back.
Expect prices around 7,50 euro per day. And 35 to 45 euro for a whole week. Typically to be paid in advance. There is usually a (cash!) deposit of 50 euro.

How to cycle to the Abtspoelweg:
-> follow signs to Oegstgeest (well sign posted)
-> the Abtspoelweg is near to the old toll gate to Warmond
-> biking in direction of Warmond it's a small lane on your right (OCC-signs indicate the entrance)

From Amsterdam by car
-> take the A44 to The Hague
-> get off at turn 6 (Voorhout)
-> take left to Oegstgeest on Haarlemmertrekvaart
-> at the end at the Haarlemmertrekvaart turn right Abstpoelweg
-> Abtspoelweg 15 is on your left side

From Rotterdam by car
-> take the A4 to The Hague
-> take the A12 to The Haque
-> at the end of the A12 turn right on the N44
-> follow the N44
-> at Wassenaar the N44 will move over into the A44
-> follow the A44
-> get off at turn 6 (Voorhout)
-> take right to Oegstgeest on the Haarlemmertrekvaart
-> at the end at the Haarlemmertrekvaart turn right to the Abstpoelweg

From Utrecht by car
-> take the A12 to the Hague
-> at the end of the A12 turn right on the N44
-> follow the N44

by plane
To Leiden by air.
The nearest airport is Schiphol (AMS). Next best is Rotterdam airport (which has some good budget carriers).
From Schiphol - the easiest option is to follow the signs for the train station (which is literally under the airport) and take a train to Leiden.

From Rotterdam airport take any of the busses to Rotterdam central train station, and take the train from there.

Trains between Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Delft, The Hague and Leiden run 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Around 4 to 6 times per hour during the day. And 2 per hour between 1am to 5am.
